Ejército y US Army Revisan Áreas de Desarrollo Tecnológico

  • El Director de Proyectos e Investigación del Ejército visitó al U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Research, Development and Engineering Center.

REDSTONE ARSENAL, Ala. (May 12, 2016) -- The Chilean Director of Projects and Research visited U.S. Army researchers to identify areas for collaborative research and development May 9.

The U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Research, Development and Engineering Center briefed Chilean Brig. Gen. Hernán Araya on aviation and missile capabilities.
Director James Lackey and Dr. Juanita Harris briefed Araya on AMRDEC's and Weapons Development and Integration's current and future capabilities.
"International collaboration is very important," Araya said during the engagement. "We want to learn more about the Army's science and technology capabilities so that we can explore new ways of building our international relationships."
AMRDEC uses international collaboration to assist the organization in meeting its overarching mission through project agreements and data exchange agreements. This enhances AMRDEC's ability to share information and perform joint research and development, through product development, specialized research and life-cycle systems engineering solutions.
"Being internationally engaged here at AMRDEC within our various science and technology activity lines of effort, has a direct tie-in with the larger Army Operating Concept," Lackey said. "Engaging in a complex world necessitates involvement of operations with our allies. The more we can partner on common technology interests, the more we are aligned on product development and capability outcomes."
AMRDEC's partnership with countries has significantly increased and exposed the center's research and development efforts, Lackey said.
"AMRDEC recognizes the benefit of international programs and its ability to effectively collaborate with subject matter expert in other countries. We can learn from one another," he said. "The end result of all this is that we increase technology commonality and system interoperability between one another as aligned nation states and thus are that much more effective when operating together in a strategic, unified manner."
The U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Research, Development and Engineering Center is part of the U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering Command, which has the mission to ensure decisive overmatch for unified land operations to empower the Army, the joint warfighter and our nation. RDECOM is a major subordinate command of the U.S. Army Materiel Command.
